About Tsitsikamma Wolf Sanctuary

The Tsitsikamma Wolf Sanctuary is the oldest Wolf Sanctuary in South Africa and is a registered non-profit company. The Sanctuary provides a safe-haven for grey timber wolves and high-content wolf dogs that have been rescued or surrendered for their own protection and wellbeing.

Bring the family to experience these majestic creatures when visiting the beautiful Tsitsikamma. A day of real enjoyment in the outdoors overlooking the forests and mountains of the Tsitsikamma while coming face to face with the spirt of the Wolf.

Sit inside a real tepee and listen to the howling of the wolves. Bring your own picnic and enjoy the beautiful surroundings while sitting amongst the wolf enclosures.

Be sure to inquire about our rustic wood cabins where you can spend a weekend, sitting around the bofire as the wolves howl the night away.

OUR MISSION

The Tsitsikamma Wolf Sanctuary, supports the survival of the wolf in South Africa and provides care to our natural environment by:

  • Teaching about a wolf’s behaviour and its association with other species.
  • Its dynamic relationship to humans.
  • Provision of a sanctuary and ultimately a “natural habitat” for captive wolves.
  • Providing knowledge to the public on the reasons to be against breeding wolves and wolf dogs in South Africa.
  • Public education on the value of ALL wildlife.
  • The importance of not removing animals from their natural domain.
  • The importance of ending hybridising (crossbreeding).
