About Lowlands Country House & Manor
Lowlands Estate is a beautiful sheep, cattle and pecan nut farm on the Fish River 30 minutes North of Cradock. A wide variety of activities for guests to enjoy include canoeing, river rafting, bird watching, mountain climbing or just relaxing in tranquil and comfortable surroundings while enjoying traditional Karoo hospitality.
We are child friendly and children are welcome to explore and enjoy farm life. Nearby attractions are the Olive Schreiner Museum in Cradock, Mountain Zebra Park, Grassridge Dam and Graaff Reinet.
Your hosts Dave and Anne Bowker are part of a real Karoo community which still meets for tennis every Saturday afternoon and church on a Sunday in a 100 year old church.

From Cradock
- Take the N10 North (towards Middelburg) for 35 kms until you reach Fish River Station turn to the right (1 km after crossing the Fish River bridge)
- Cross over the railway tracks, turn right and go straight for 1 km
- Turn left at the shop, pass the tennis club on the left and travel for 3 kms, past Saltpans Drift farm and over the Brak River bridge
- Turn right after the bridge and left at the fork in the road
- 3 kms later, through a gate on the koppie there is another fork – take the road right to Lowlands Country House (1.5 kms).
From Middleburg
- Take the N10 South for 45 kms until you reach the Fish River Station turn to the left
- Cross over the railway tracks, turn right and go straight for 1 km
- Turn left at the shop, pass the tennis club on the left and travel for 3 kms, past Saltpans Drift farm and over the Brak River bridge
- Turn right after the bridge and left at the fork in the road
- 3 kms later, through a gate on the koppie there is another fork – take the right road to Lowlands Country House (1.5 kms).
