This is full of character, having originally been a stone kraal for sheep and later developed into accommodation.

It comprises of four rooms (TGSA 3 star graded and Highly Recommended by the AA), all en-suite and with tea and coffee facilties.

The Workshops

The Sheds

The Engine Room, Coal Room and Shed room, whose former functions are clear, are larger rooms with various little extras to make your stay that bit better.  They overlook fields of lucerne in which sheep sometimes graze.

Khoisan Cottage

This cottage also began life as a sheep corral which was later improved into a labourers' cottage but which was uninhabited from the 1930's until the present owners completely renovated it and added another room and two bathrooms.  Today, the cottage has one en-suite double bedroom, a twin bedroom, a lounge with a sleeper couch, a dining room and a fully equipped kitchen.

Birding at Ganora:

Ganora Guest Farm has a birdlist of 184 birds that has been spotted on Ganora. Some of the special birds on the farm is for eg Black Eagles, Blue cranes, Black storks and even often in the rainy season flamingo's.

Meerkat Rehabilitation

For 21 years we have been looking after orphaned meerkats until they can be returned safely to the wild.  A visit to us is not complete without looking in on these engaging little creatures.

Anglo-Boer War History

Ganora was registered in 1838, just after the Great Trek. The Davels who came to live here had a son who became a great leader for the area. However, as he was Dutch speaking, he was not very welcome during time of the Anglo Boer War. He was captured and his family sent to the concentration camp. His one son witnessed this and hid in the Bushman shelter for 3 months. He made some engravings while in hiding which we will be able to show you while on the tour to the Bushman shelter with paintings.
