Angora MTB Classic
Date: Saturday, 1st September 2018
(on behalf of the Dutch Reformed Church, Huis Welverdiend Old Age Home and Jansenville Tourism)
The first Saturday of September each year is booked for the Angora MTB Classic. 2018 is the fourth time that the event will take place. It was previously known as the Sunday’s River MTB Marathon.
Something brand new at the 2018
SAMIL Angora MTB Classic.........
Amongst the photos is the Final Route Map for the exciting first time around of 140 km MTB!
Early morning fresh Karoo air will be inhaled at 4h45 to start 5h00 sharp. Very appropriate to practice a longish distance before K2C in three weeks time. This route has been plotted in such a way that all categories of elevation and abilities in the saddle are challenged to the extreme at certain places..........
Come test yourself and enjoy something different in 4 Karoo farming districts namely Jansenville, Graaff-Reinet, Aberdeen and Klipplaat.
A very scenic yet challenging route with various forms of terrain.
Passing through game farms where kudu, sable, eland and other game can be viewed closely. Various small stock breeds of Karoo farms are also to be seen. Passing on route the meteorite site - Kalkkop
Mostly non cell phone signal area therefore we encourage partner teams. Yet there would be abundant water points for support with two way radios. 2 Spectator/supporter points on the route.
This route definitely a step or two above the norm therefore excellent preparation for Karoo to Coast.
This area is the mecca of the Angora goat and main centre of mohair in South Africa.
